X-Zyte 3rd Road Information YOU don’t mind paying a cover charge when the cocktails are this good. A 200 baht entry fee may seem a bit steep, but it does include a choice of one cocktail from quite a tempting list. My whisky sour had a good share of whisky in, and my friend’s Margarita was equally potent. X-zyte’s interior resembles a giant black warehouse, with a couple of giant screens flashing up messages or images from the main stage. A decent Thai-influenced disco pumps out music early in the evening, and later on it’s showtime. The disco stops and two sword dancers leap onto the stage and are soon followed by an ‘emperor’. It all seems a bit incongruous, and thankfully the extravagance doesn’t last long. Once the emperor has said his bit, it’s time for the dancers. A dozen girls and a handful of boys take to the stage in a variety of figure-hugging costumes and cavort to mainly Thai songs, which goes down very well with the locals. Xzyte manages to attract a broad spectrum of clubbers, from family tourists, to single guys to a small gay scene. All of which means a relaxed atmosphere and a fun vibe. On the downside, the music is mainly Thai pop, which is great for the locals but a bit bewildering for everyone else. A good alternative is Website, which has the same owners, and is 40 minutes away in Sriracha. But for those who want to stay within walking distance of Walking Street, this is certainly one of the biggest and most popular clubs in town.
