We’ve scoured the phone books and come up with the most essential contact details you’ll need for Pattaya. And here they are.

Emergency

Tourist Police (03 841 0044, emergency 1155) The main Police Station is on Beach Road, next to the Central Festival Mall by Soi 9. There’s another next to the Tourist Authority of Thailand office on Phra Tamnak hill. Police boxes are dotted along the beachfront.

Fire Services: (038 22 1000, emergency 199)

Internet Access

Nearly every soi by the beach has an internet cafe, where connections cost 1B per minute. Many coffee shops have wireless internet.

Medical Services

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (038 429 999; www.bph.co.th; M.6, Sukhumvit) Ensure you have insurance, as medical bills can be high. For bumps and bruises, chemists sell most medicine over the counter.

Money

Foreign exchange booths and ATMs can be found almost everywhere. They also open late, unlike some banks.

Telephone

Hotels offer connections but your best option for calling home is to buy an international phone card from convenience stores. Alternatively, dial 009 then the international number, which will cost around 9 baht a minute (drop the first 0 from the number you’re dialling). Many internet cafes have Skype.
