Malibu Bar
Malibu Bar (ladyboy cabaret)
Second Road, South Pattaya
'Well the men come in these places, and the men are all the same. You don't look at their faces, and you don't ask their names,' mimes the Tina Turner act in the Pattaya bar, without a hint of irony.
You have to hand it to the folk at Malibu, they do know how to pick their songs. Also on the playlist is Lady Marmalade (with the classic 'do you want to sleep with me tonight? line) and then there's The Great Pretender. Which seems a perfect choice when you realise this is a ladyboy cabaret.
Considering there's no cover charge and the prices are the same as any other beer bar, the Malibu is a remarkable place. It's been going for years (more than most bars can say) thanks largely to the full-on show that takes place.
Among the highlights are a credible Tina Turner, who struts and pouts like the real thing. The other 'girls' dress in boa feathers and glitter to perform an array of songs. These days many of the songs are in Russian or Chinese, presumably to reflect the punters' homelands.
The show is fairly family-friendly too (twin balloons stuffed in a top is anbout as risque as it gets) and you won't be hassled by anyone as you watch the show.
